Food insecurity is the most severe indicator of poverty, reflected in the lack of essential, nutritious food needed to maintain an active life at any age and to ensure healthy development in children.
Until the government provides a comprehensive solution, we will continue to uphold the value of mutual responsibility and support families experiencing severe food insecurity.

Latet operates as an umbrella organization, supporting our network of 210 local NGOs in 135 communities across the country through our national food bank. This nationwide reach allows for the fair and equitable distribution of food to all sectors of Israeli society, as our partner NGOs preform the last mile of distribution within their communities.  

These partner organizations must comply with standards of proper governance and undergo rigorous monitoring and oversight. They also commit to operating according to an ethical code. These measures ensure that food is distributed to recipients in a respectful, efficient, and high-quality manner.

The food and products we distribute to people in need come from three sources: rescue of edible food and product surpluses through partnership with major manufacturers and retail chains, large-scale bulk purchasing to ensure a balanced food box with high nutritional value, and nationwide food drives from the general public.

To ensure that fresh, high-quality food reaches every part of the country promptly, we operate three logistics centers –  in the north, center, and south of Israel – along with a fleet of trucks and operational vehicles, advanced information systems, and a monitoring and oversight mechanism.

Thanks to the infrastructure we’ve built, three decades of experience, a skilled and dedicated professional team, and flexible thinking, we’re ready for any mission, in both routine and emergency situations.

As part of our ongoing attentiveness to emerging needs in the field, we consistently engage in strategic and creative thinking to expand and refine our response to vulnerable populations across the country. Over time, this has led to the development of additional initiatives that have become an integral part of our ongoing activities: Latet for Winter (heating and winter essentials), Bag to School (school supplies to children from low-income families), Latet from Day One (a care package for newborns including formula, diapers, and other basic items), and more.
Thanks to these initiatives and the organization’s advanced operational infrastructure, we are able to respond quickly and effectively to changing needs, and provide exactly what’s needed, when it’s needed.
