Research and Policy Change
For over 20 years, Latet has published the Alternative Poverty Report, offering an in-depth look at the complex reality of living in poverty and the barriers that make it difficult to break out of it. The report is regularly presented in Knesset committees and serves as a foundation for articles, media coverage and educational programs, while also being an impactful tool for increasing pressure on the government to tackle these important issues.
The report combines data drawn from the lives of Latet’s aid recipients, testimonials of our partner local NGOs, and our proprietary Multidimensional Poverty Index which highlights deprivation across five key areas of life.
Alongside the report, we conduct numerous in-depth studies throughout the year on poverty and food insecurity. These serve as a strategic foundation for both our aid programs and our advocacy efforts.
The policy papers we publish address key issues such as government responses to vulnerable populations, food insecurity, and social inequality. These papers are used by the Government Authority as well as by civil society organizations, offering insights and recommended courses of action in the fight against poverty.
We believe that public discourse regarding poverty and social inequality is essential for mobilizing civil society and driving meaningful change for vulnerable populations in Israel.
We consistently promote this conversation through innovative means such as public installations, televised broadcasts, social media campaigns, conferences, and forums. In addition, we hold regular meetings with ministers, committee chairs, Knesset members, and social leaders from various sectors.
As a learning, efficient, and professional organization, we regularly measure the impact of our various projects. Performance evaluation allows us to assess both the scope and quality of our impact, and the real change we are creating.
Our performance indicators serve as strategic work plans that help us achieve broader impact and make the most effective use of the organization’s resources.
