When reservists were called back into service after October 7th, they left behind jobs, businesses, and young families — many of whom are now struggling to stay afloat. As months passed without income, thousands of once-stable households entered severe financial distress.

Today, with limited government support, parents who never imagined needing help are facing impossible choices: rent or baby formula, groceries or electricity, work or childcare. Latet is stepping in to ensure these families are not left behind.

The Need

• 118,000+ parents were called to reserve duty since October 7th (CBS, Sept. 2023).
• 41% of reservists lost or left their jobs (Israel Employment Service, Mar. 2023).
• 34% of reservist families report serious financial difficulties (CBS, Sept. 2023).

Months of unpaid reserve service led to lost wages, shuttered businesses, and rising debt. Partners at home shouldered childcare and work alone, creating major disruptions to family stability. Without timely assistance, temporary hardship is turning into long-term poverty.

Latet’s Response

Latet will support 1,000 reservist families with six months of essential aid tailored to their most urgent needs.

Each month, families will receive:

To help families cover urgent needs such as baby supplies, medications, transportation, or utility bills.

This support offers immediate relief and restores stability for families who gave so much during Israel’s most difficult year.
