Latet was established in order to assist populations in need, mobilize civil society toward mutual responsibility, and lead a change in national priorities.
We are the leading umbrella organization and food bank in Israel, partnering with 210 local NGOs and organizations across Israel. Each year, we mobilize 38,000 volunteers and provide ongoing assistance to 100,000 families and 1,700 Holocaust survivors.
Giving for three decades and counting
Latet (‘To give’ in Hebrew) is to wake up in the morning with the purpose of making a difference and creating social impact. It means providing immediate, daily help to vulnerable populations, both in routine and in times of emergency, while simultaneously working to create a better future. It’s the Latet spirit that defines us; the drive to face every challenge and move forward with determination and a deep sense of mission.
Since founding Latet in 1996 as Israel’s first humanitarian aid organization of its kind, we’ve led the fight against poverty in Israel through solidarity and a belief in mutual responsibility and giving within civil society. We’ve laid the foundation for innovative, impactful humanitarian action and fostered a culture of volunteerism as a way of life.
